Yesterday we shared that we recently detected that an unauthorized third party accessed certain parts of our systems. Upon discovery of the access, we immediately implemented incident response efforts and initiated an investigation with the assistance of leading outside security and forensic experts. The issue has been identified and eliminated.
While the investigation is still ongoing, we believe those quick actions prevented the vast majority of our data and your personal information from being improperly accessed. As of right now, we believe that no partner business data and little consumer data was improperly accessed. The affected information may include names, phone numbers, postal addresses, and, for a very limited number of our loyalty members, credit card information.
We take the protection and proper use of your personal information very seriously and are committed to making this right. We have already implemented additional safeguards to protect our systems and will continue to evaluate and strengthen how we protect your data. We will be in touch with those impacted by this issue soon regarding the information accessed and specific steps to protect their information. In the meantime, here are some additional tips to keep your personal information safe:
· Request your annual credit reports.
· Monitor your credit score and account activity.
· Consider subscribing to a service that will protect your information, and check with your insurance company or your credit card company as they may have one available for free.
· Consider locking your credit with credit bureaus.
· Update and change your account passwords. The best practice is to memorize your passwords and not use browser/app “auto-fill” features.
